Adele made rare comments about her son Angelo , 13, and the surprising way in which the two of them have bonded.
In a YouTube video shared by McLaren Racing on Friday, July 3, the “Rolling in the Deep” singer explained that Angelo is “really into karting and things like that.”
“He just sort of asked about it a couple of years ago and I was like, ‘Alright,’” she said. “I don’t know many teenagers now that have an actual passion. So I’m really trying to encourage it.”
After seeing how much her son loved racing and Formula 1, in particular, she also became “obsessed.”
“When your kid has an interest, you have to get into it,” she argued. “And more importantly, I think you have to be interested in it. I don’t think I ever expected to bond with my soon-to-be 14- year-old son about something so passionate where we argue about drivers. But it’s fun to have that interaction with a teenage boy in 2026. I wasn’t expecting it.”
Adele shares Angelo, who was born in October 2012, with her ex-husband, Simon Konecki .
The singer said Angelo’s F1 fandom has exposed her to “an entire universe exists [where] millions of people are into something and you don’t know about it.”
“F1 kind of feels like a weird, secret club. I have my friends who are my age coming over at like 6 a.m. to watch races,” she said of watch parties at her home in Los Angeles. “I make a massive chili and we’re all sitting there. I just find it fascinating.”
In a sit-down chat with McLaren driver Lando Norris , Adele said she finds it “ridiculous” that her job is being a singer, telling Norris, 26, she originally dreamed of being a talent scout.
“I never thought that I was the talent,” she admitted. “I knew I was really good with music, which is why I thought I’d be so good at discovering new talent. And I was! My top 8 on MySpace back in the day — you won’t even know what that was because you’re so young — was ten out of ten. Top-tier.”

She added, “It is incredibly unlikely that a girl from Tottenham is going to go on to have any kind of career in England, let alone universally and stuff like that. It was never an option.”
In connection with her massive success, Adele candidly told Norris that she can still “struggle with the fame side of it.”
“If I remind myself it’s a joke that my job is being a singer, I just always try and lean into that,” she said.
