Before Taylor Swift was an international pop star, she was a high school student in Tennessee aspiring to make it big. While her life has changed drastically since she released her debut self-titled album in 2006, one thing that has remained consistent is her longtime friendship with high school BFF Abigail Anderson .

From appearing in Swift’s music videos to attending her wedding to Travis Kelce , Us Weekly breaks down everything to know about Anderson and her lasting friendship with the “All Too Well” singer.

While appearing on a 2009 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show , Swift explained that she met Anderson on the first day of their freshman year at Hendersonville High School in Tennessee.

Swift and Anderson hit it off after they sat next to each other in English class, marking the beginning of a decades-long friendship.

Anderson has always supported Swift’s career, and she was even been mentioned in two of her songs.

Anderson was first mentioned in Swift’s 2008 track “Fifteen,” which was about their experiences of being in love for the first time while in high school. “You sit in class next to a red-head named Abigail / And soon enough you’re best friends / Laughing at the other girls,” Swift sings. “Who think they’re so cool / We’ll be out of here as soon as we can.”

More recently, Anderson was mentioned in Swift’s 2025 track “Ruin the Friendship.” In the song, Swift recalls Anderson calling her to tell her that their high school friend had passed away. “When I left school, I lost track of you / Abigail called me with the bad news,” Swift sings. “Goodbye, and we’ll never know why.”

In addition to being named in two songs, Anderson has also appeared in three of Swift’s music videos. She made her acting debut in the 2008 music video for “Picture to Burn” and she appeared in the “Fifteen” music video the following year.

Home footage with Anderson was also featured in the 2008 music video for “I’m Only Me When I’m With You,” and she appeared in a crowd in the 2013 music video for “22.” Her most recent appearance was in montage tour clips in Swift’s 2016 music video for “New Romantics.”

Additionally, Anderson appeared in Swift’s 2020 documentary Miss Americana .

While Swift’s friend group consists of many singers, actors and models, Anderson opted to pursue a more traditional job.

She currently works at the payment company Celero Commerce as the chief of staff for corporate development. The company’s website states that Anderson manages mergers and acquisitions and “supports transaction planning and diligence execution.”

Anderson previously worked at Patriot Angels, which is a nonprofit that provides pension assistance for veterans and military spouses.

Anderson has been married twice, and Swift served as a bridesmaid during her wedding to photographer Matt Lucier in September 2017. She confirmed that they later separated in 2021.

Following her divorce, Anderson wed Charles “Charlie” Berard in September 2022. It is not currently known if Swift served as a bridesmaid or attended the nuptials.

Anderson announced that she and Berard were expecting their first child together in July 2024. “I’m having his babyyyy… 💙,” she captioned an Instagram post, referencing Swift’s song “But Daddy I Love Him.” The announcement included a photo in which Anderson showed off her baby bump and cradled a box of Cheez-Its in her arm.

Swift showed her support in the comments section by writing, “When the internet says ‘MOTHER’ I feel like this pic is actually what they mean.”

Anderson later announced on August 16, 2024, that their son, Bennett, had arrived.

Longtime fans were delighted to see that Anderson was among the guests at Swift and Kelce’s reported wedding rehearsal dinner in New York City on July 2, 2026.

While the reported wedding on July 3, 2026, is expected to have about 1,000 guests, Page Six and ABC News reported that about 100 individuals were present for the rehearsal dinner.
